Our mission is to bring people in our community together to prevent and repair the harm caused by conflict. Would you like to join us?
Brighton and Hove Independent Mediation Service (BHIMS) is offering a great opportunity for a mediation caseworker, who will be working at the heart of our high-quality service.
About us: BHIMS is a community based, independent charity offering a range of mediation and conflict resolution services and training across Brighton and Hove and the Lewes District. And we have been doing this for almost 30 years. We provide:
- Mediation and one to one conflict resolution support.
- Education and training in conflict resolution strategies and skills.
The Role: Our caseworkers are involved throughout the mediation process. They ensure the progression of cases by liaising with our clients, with the organisations who refer to us and with our volunteer mediators. Where needed, caseworkers also carry out mediations themselves.
We are looking for someone with excellent people skills and a proven ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds and to understand the issues they face in communities. If you have experience of managing a caseload, if you can listen and remain impartial, then we would like to hear from you.
Hours: 28 hours per week are guaranteed for 12 months, but will be reviewed thereafter, subject to funding. Allocation of days by arrangement.
Salary: £22,183 per annum (Full time equivalent)
Post managed by: Senior Caseworker
Working arrangements: The core office hours are 10am to 4pm Monday to Thursday. On occasion we may require some flexibility in order to meet BHIMS needs. This may, very occasionally, include evening & weekend work.
Location: Based at the BHIMS office in central Brighton and flexible working from home. Our area of work covers residents of Brighton, Hove, Lewes and surrounding areas.
Access and inclusion: the BHIMS office has disabled access and we would make reasonable adjustments to our facilities to meet any requirements of the successful candidate.
Deadline: Noon Tuesday 1 June 2021
Interview Date: Wednesday 16 June 2021
